2024 Jackson County Caucus

Because of the size of our county, Jackson County will have two caucuses. One will be east of Hwy 7 for the 4th and 6th Congressional Districts combined, and another west of Hwy 7 for the 5th Congressional District. The locations for each of these are being worked out and will be listed here as soon as they are confirmed.

Here is some basic information on the caucuses and who can attend.

The doors will open for each caucus event at 9:00am on March 2, 2024. The caucus will start at promptly 10:00 am, and will end around noon. EVERYONE who considers themselves a Republican voter SHOULD attend. A link to pre-register for the caucus will be posted here when it becomes available. The advantage to you, the voter, in pre-registering is that when you arrive, your name will already be on the list as pre-vetted and a registered voter so you will be checked off as present, upon showing valid non-expired Missouri driver's license, non-driver's license or ID issues by the United States or State of Missouri, and given a voter card to signify that you get a vote in the process. If you have not pre-registered, you will go into a separate line, be looked up in the county or city election board database and checked off, and upon showing valid non-expired ID, given your voter card. Not pre-registering will take longer, so we encourage you to pre-register when the link is available. It will be posted here.

The caucus process is the most purely Republican process by which to select a presidential candidate. The public attends the Caucus on March 2 to elect a set of Delegates and Alternates to the Congressional District Conventions on April 6, 2024, a set of Delegates and Alternates to the Missouri State GOP Convention on May 4, 2024, and any Platform Amendments that are proposed to the GOP Platform from the public. Platform Amendments are voted on individually by the public attending the County Caucus. If passed by the Caucus, they will be voted on by the Congressional District Convention, and if passed, by the MOGOP State Platform Committee to be presented at the MOGOP State Convention.

At the Congressional District Conventions on April 6, the Delegates who were elected at the Caucus will vote to elect 3 Delegates and 3 Alternates from each Congressional District to attend the Republican National Convention in July of 2024 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They will also elect an Elector from each of Missouri's eight Congressional Districts who will cast his/her vote for President of the United States if the Republican Nominee wins the State of Missouri on November 5, 2024. They will also vote on any Platform Amendments. If passed by the Congressional District Delegates, the Platform Amendments will move on to the State Convention.

At the MOGOP State Convention on May 4, 2024, the Delegates who were elected at the Caucus will vote to elect the remaining at-large Delegates and Alternates to the Republican National Convention in July in Milwaukee. The Delegates will also elect a National Committeeman and National Committeewoman to the RNC to serve a four-year term. In addition, the Delegates will vote on any Platform Amendments passed by the Congressional District to the State Convention.
